2003 HOUSTON LIVESTOCK SHOW AND RODEO

Tony competed in the sixth annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Talent Contest in Feb/March 2003.  After singing in the preliminary, semi-finals and final competition, he was declared the Grand Prize Winner in the Youth Division.  He was awarded a scholarship and a commemorative trophy.

He and the two winners from the Teen and Adult divisions enjoyed giving a 30 minute performance at The Hideout Club on the rodeo grounds.  Tony sang "There's A Hero", "I Think She Likes Me", "Thank God I'm a Country Boy", and "Hey Good Lookin'".

Tony was looking forward to being an emcee for the 2004 contest but the Talent Contest has been eliminated from the program line-up to make way for exciting and innovative new programs such as the International Wine Competition.  Every year, HLS&R planners and over 16,000 volunteers work very hard to make the world's largest rodeo a top-notch entertainment venue that must be seen and experienced.  This event draws visitors from around the world to the Reliant Stadium complex who want to experience a taste of Texas while also seeing their favorite Country, Pop, R&B and Tejano performers in concert.  Entertainers from Elvis Presley to George Strait to ZZ Topp have strutted their stuff on the Rodeo stage.  And, without a doubt, this event proves the old adage that "Everything's bigger in Texas"!  Over 2 million people attend the various events every year.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a charitable event, committed to benefiting youth and supporting education throughout the state of Texas.  Since presenting its first scholarship in 1957, the Show has committed almost $100 million in scholarship, graduate assistantships, endowments and grant contributions for the youth of Texas.
